Learn moreWhy industry experience matters
The code is only half of a website project. The other half is knowing what a clinic front desk does at 8am, how shoppers browse a store on their phone, or which listing rules a brokerage has agreed to. That knowledge shortens discovery, removes rework and produces a site people actually use.
What changes from one industry to the next
WordPress is the same in every sector. What changes is the job the site has to do, the forms it collects, the systems it connects to and the rules it has to respect. The table shows the one thing that most often decides the scope in each sector.
| Industry | What usually decides the scope |
|---|---|
| Healthcare | Booking, secure intake forms and accessibility, with patient privacy shaping every form and integration. |
| Ecommerce & Retail | Catalog size, payment and shipping rules, and whether you are migrating from a hosted platform. |
| Real Estate | Listing data: whether listings come from a board feed, an IDX plugin or are entered by hand, and how leads reach agents. |
| Professional Services | Credibility and conversion: service pages, team profiles, secure enquiry handling and content publishing. |
| Hospitality | Booking: whether you use a channel manager or booking engine, and how photos, rates and availability are kept current. |
| Education | Audiences: students, parents and staff each need a clear path, plus accessibility and course or enrolment tools. |
| Nonprofit | Donations and volunteers: how gifts are processed and receipted, and how much the team can update on its own. |
| Restaurants | Menus and ordering: how the menu is kept current, and whether online ordering and reservations run through the site or a third party. |
What stays the same
Every industry page describes a different site, but the way we work does not change. You get a fixed-scope quote in writing before work starts. Senior engineers build the site on a staging link you can check every week. Forms are set up so the data goes where it should and nowhere else. Your team gets training so hours, staff, menus, listings or programs can be updated without a developer. At handover you own the code, the design files and every account.
Privacy and accessibility apply everywhere
Two rules cut across all eight sectors in Canada. Any form that collects personal information brings PIPEDA (and provincial privacy law where it applies) into play, so we keep collection to what you need and route submissions securely. In Ontario, organizations with 50 or more employees must make their public websites meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA under the AODA, and accessible markup is good practice for everyone else. If you are unsure whether either rule applies to you, tell us in the brief and we will build for it.
